Some many years ago, when I was a young single mom, I viewed buying a gift for my mother on Mother’s Day as a chore. At some point she seemed to have everything she needed or wanted and for 10 years in a row I purchased a rose bush for her garden for Mother’s Day. A few of those rose bushes are still there, outliving my mother by nearly a decade. Don’t get me wrong, I like seeing the roses when I visit my but they make me realize I could have been a little more creative in the gift giving department.
