Nutcracker Craft Boutique in Brea, CA - November 15-16, 2013

UPDATE The date is set for the 2013 Nutcracker Craft Boutique in Brea, CA for 2013. It will be held, rain or shine on November 15th - 16th. This is a great show, with lots and lots of visitors and vendors. You do have to pay an entrance fee, but it is only $2 per person and well worth it. Go early, parking is pretty bad. The article below was written just after the 2009 show and we try to go every year. There is supposed to be over 250 craft booths in 2013 - I do so look forward to this show. The have added a Food Alley which is good because it takes a while to get through this show.

One of the best things about being back in southern California (besides being by my family) is the availability to so many craft fairs, boutiques and shows.

Yesterday, Jim and I went to the 24th Annual Nutcracker Craft Boutique at the Brea, CA Community center and we had so much fun!

The show was so big, there were literally hundreds of booths! We shop-walked for a couple of hours until we were both exhausted and left before we could see every booth. We saw a lots of great crafts from recycled blue jeans, adorable baby bibs with sports themes, stunning fused glassware and tole painting was everywhere.

What impressed me the most was the high quality of the crafts. Professional crafting has been taken to a new level during the past few years and the items were so inventive, beautiful and extremely well made! Consumers are value driven these days and the crafters have really stepped up the quality to meet the new marketplace.

Oh, did I mention the place was packed, I mean really packed, with shoppers? Apparently the recession is easing a bit, at least here in Brea as we witnessed brisk sales and lots of full shopping bags over the shoulders of those leaving the show.

The whole experience was exciting and inspiring. Handmade Crafting is and always will be popular and it was great to see so many people enjoying the day and making some money too!

If you haven't been to a craft show for a while it's probably time to. You are sure to find great treasure and lots of fresh ideas abound.
